The history of one of the largest Chinese engineering holdings Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co. started with its founder and owner Li Shufu.

In 1982, after graduating from university, this businessman bought a camera with the last money and organized a photo studio.

Things went well and in 1986 the Zhejiang Huangvan Shiqu Refrigerator Company was founded, which was engaged in the production of refrigerators.

By the early 90s, there was a dream to produce cars, there was money, and the Chinese government tightened the rules for licensing refrigerators and it became almost impossible for private companies to produce them.

Li Shufu refocused his business and then decided to go into the production of passenger cars. They bought a bankrupt state-owned company.

Then, together with the Japanese Honda, they began to produce scooters since 1994.

In 1996, the first prototype of a passenger car was created, which received the name Geely Number 01.

Li Shufu really liked the models of this German automaker, so they copied everything.
