Ginetta cars are not widely heard of outside the UK, despite the brand's long history and long track record of racing victories.

Ginetta Cars was founded in 1958 by brothers Bob, Ivor, Travers and Douglas Wocklett.

Initially, it was located in Woodbridge (Suffolk), in 1962 it moved to Witham (Essex), in 1972-1974. was based in Sudbury (Suffolk), then returned to Witham, in 1988 changed its headquarters to Scunthorpe (Lincolnshire), and since 2007 its plant has been located in Garforth (West Yorkshire).

The main activity of the company was the production of kit cars - small sports cars with a tubular frame, fiberglass body and spare parts from other automakers, which were sold as a kit for self-assembly.

Of the three dozen models developed by the Wockletts, several large series can be distinguished: classic front-engined roadsters (G4, G27, G33), mid-engined sports prototypes (G12, G16), two-seater rear-engined coupes (G15), front-engined 2 + 2 coupes (G21, G28, G31), etc.

Since 2005, Ginetta has been owned by Lawrence Tomlinson's LNT group, which actively promotes the brand both in international motorsport and through the organization of national monocups.

Modern Ginetta models compete in many racing series, from the GT3 and GT4 classes of the British GT Championship to the LMP1 and LMP3 classes of the FIA Endurance Championship.

The motto of the company is "Quality, value and innovation"
