Wey Dream - a 5-door hatchback, made in retro style, as it seems to us, represents “dreams of the past” of the premium Wey brand.

First presented in concept form in summer 2021. At first, Great Wall was not going to put it into production, however, it recently became known that the model was certified in May 2022.

The production version is almost no different from the concept. The car, built on the basis of the fun electric hatchback Ora Punk Cat, received a rechargeable hybrid powertrain.

While the creators are targeting “Dream” at the domestic Chinese market, however, there is no need to make any assumptions, because it was not initially planned for series either.

Externally, the new Wey Dream resembles models from the 40s and 50s of the last century. And no wonder, because it was built on the basis of the “Punk Cat”, which was “copied” from the legendary Volkswagen Beetle.

The dimensions are also dictated by the base, so the 5-door hatchback turned out to be large: length - 4830 mm, width - 1995 mm, height - 1725 mm, wheelbase is as much as 2915 mm.

The interior of the new product, like the exterior, repeats the “inner world” of the concept car, however, with the exception of some details that looked a little excessive (gold trim and luxurious leather seats).

Three displays were carried over from the prototype: a digital instrument panel with simulated wells, multimedia in the center and a screen for the front passenger.

On the center console there are three round vents, which, together with the perfectly round steering wheel, create the impression of a retro style, funnily combined with modern screens.

Wey Dream 2022/2023 is a rechargeable hybrid. The hatchback was equipped with a system called L. E. M. O. N. DHT, which is actively used by the Wey and Haval brands.

Its feature is the ability to work in both parallel and serial modes.

Under the hood there is a 1. 5-liter petrol turbo engine with an output of 156 hp. pp., it is assisted by one or more electric motors.

It is expected that the new product will have versions with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.
